Fresh Start Farms grows diversified vegetables for farmers markets and CSA in Lisbon, ME.  He is originally from Somalia, where he and his family farmed the fertile river soils of the Jubba River valley for generations.  Following the outbreak of war, his family lived in Kenya and were eventually resettled to Atlanta, Georgia, but later moved to Lewiston, Maine, where he was happy to discover the opportunity to farm again and reconnect with the land.  Today he is learning to adapt his agricultural expertise to a new climate and to new customers, and has a growing CSA in addition to the farmers' markets they serve. 
 
Though not certified, all produce is grown organically with customer health and happiness in mind.  Mohamed is part of the dynamic changing face of local agriculture in Maine, happy to be farming here, proud to be growing a business in the US, and excited to sell you the best vegetables around!
